Sliding Scale

Before we get into the specific numbers, I’d like to explain this sliding scale means to me. My values demand that this practice be built to challenge white supremacy and capitalism. In my coaching practice this means acknowledging our innate physical intelligence and learning to stop policing our bodies. Organizationally, this sliding scale offers an opportunity to divest from the perpetuation of privilege-based wealth disparities by asking you to acknowledge the relationship between the resources you have access to and the opportunities and oppressions you’ve experienced. The scale is designed to enable us all to take meaningful steps towards economic justice on a personal and local level. Please know that I will never quiz you about your payment or ask you to prove anything, I trust you to have the fullest understanding of your particular needs.
Private Session: $75-$125
Semi-Private Session: $50-$75 per person
Small Group Class: $20-$40 per person
Other things to consider:
When I pay more, I know that I am supporting the community as well as the practitioner. When I pay in the middle, I am helping the practitioner cover costs. When I pay at the bottom of the scale, I know that I am allowing the community to support my access to these services. All are acceptable ways of participating. I recognize that some people might not be able to afford the low end of the scale. Please let me know and we will work something out.
Consider paying less on the scale if you:
  • are a person who experiences racism directed at you, or via systemic oppression
  • are a Black, Indigenous or First Nations, brown, or otherwise non-white person
  • are transgender and experience trans related discrimination and/or violence regularly
  • are gay/queer and experience related discrimination and/or violence regularly
  • are an unpaid community organizer
  • are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history
  • are supporting children or have other dependents
  • are an elder with limited financial support
  • have medical expenses not covered by insurance
  • have medical expenses, been denied work, or experience discrimination related to ableism
  • are eligible for public assistance
  • have immigration-related expenses
  • are a sex worker who experiences occupational discrimination (personal or legislative)
Consider paying more on the scale if you:
  • own the home you live in
  • have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money
  • have access to family money and resources in times of need
  • work part time by choice
  • have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education, gender privilege, racial privilege, class background, etc. Even if you are not currently exercising your earning power, I ask you to recognize this as a choice.

This privilege-based sliding scale model was adapted from Valley Tattoo, Dura Mater Wellness, Little Red Bird Botanicals, and Pronia Coaching.
